Deeds Box from the East Indiaman Exeter

A deeds box from the East Indiaman 'Exeter', solid oak with iron strap hinges and a fancy brass escutcheon. 


together with the bindings of a ledger from the Exeter, green stained velum with red morocco title; the pages now cut away and removed.


The Exeter was a three-decker East Indiaman built by Wells and launched in 1792. She made eight voyages for the company. She took part in the Battle of Pulo Aura and on a separate voyage captured a French frigate. Her eventual fate is unknown, however, she falls from records as of 1811.
