A fine Regency period writing box or lap desk, rosewood, edged with brass and inlaid with a brass trailing foliate design to the lid and front. When opened, the box exhibits the original gold and blind tooled leather lining (stressed and a little damaged at the fold), two inkwells, pen tray and compartment, a wooden support for a book and three concealed drawers and a lift-up brass pin to secure the drawer which runs the entire length of the box.
