Tammany Bank or Little Fat Man Bank. (John) Halls Patent likely manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Foundry, Connecticut, U.S.A. With its original deal box which inscribed 'Presented to Alfred Earl Drew Mills By His Uncle Henry Xmas 1878.

The subject of this bank almost certainly represents 'Boss' William M. Tweed, corrupt head of Tammany Hall, the political machine of the Democratic Party during the 19th century. Said to have cost New York City as much as $200,000,000, Tweed was sent to jail for his crimes, where he eventually died in 1878.
