A fabulous travelling chest of solid rosewood, ribbed to the four sides with brass covered meeting edges and drop-down handles, within the plain brass-bound lid is a galleried area for holding papers, to the base two lift-out trays with covered and open compartments, one larger, one smaller, to the right hand side a further lidded compartment, all presumably for writing implements and documents.
Probably Batavian circa 1820.
