An English cast brass skimmer with which "cooks take away all the filth and scume from off a boiling pott the liquor runing throw the holes, and the dreggs remaineing on the scummer".
This example has been cast with the unusual feature of a hook to hang by rather than the more usual hole.
Made similar throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, this example thought to date to around 1750.
