Irish Zogroscope
A substantial 19th century mahogany zogroscope, the mirror and magnifying lens swinging from turned and block supports on an adjustable turned column and dished circular base. The cast and lacquered brass hinges stamped “NELSON Lr. Ormond Qy. DUBLIN’. A label to the reverse reads. ‘WILLIAM NELSON OPTICIAN AND GENERAL ARTIFICER. No….. Lower Ormond Quay Dublin. Three Doors from Batchelor’s Walk. Best Brazil Pebbles. Books Mounted with Gold or Silver Clasps, Corners etc.
Irish circa 1850.25.5 inches high at its lowest. The base diameter 9.75 inches.
