A Whalers’ Seamer

A good, early 19th century whalers’ seam rubber hewn from the tooth of a sperm whale, the bearing end cut as a tetradecagon, the body a four-sided diamond whilst the plain domed working end holds a very beautiful glassy surface, the result of many hours in the hand of our mariner, pressing the folded canvas edges before sewing.
