Eighteenth Century Brass Candlesticks

A handsome pair of heavy cast brass candlesticks, neoclassical, similar to the familiar English version but hailing from Northern Europe.

Very well made, in two parts only, stem and base, although the drips at the top of the sockets are made as a braized on disc. Finished silversmith fashion with the base scraped out, and with a hole at the side of the socket to aid the ejection of the candle stub; a long outmoded methodology in England by this time, i.e. 1770/1780.
