Engraved Gilt-Copper Snuff Box

A finely engraved gilt-copper snuff box, French, mid eighteenth century, made in homage to the earlier King Charles VIII and with his emblem engraved beneath.
The domed lid is engraved with two cavaliers holding pikes and surrounded by their hunt dogs, the bombe-shaped body of the box is engraved with cartouches enclosing subjects of the hunt.
