George Morland was a precocious and talented artist, a painter of landscapes and ‘Cottage Door’ scenes. He was the son of Henry Robert Morland. George’s dissolute lifestyle lead to a variable output in the quality of his work; the later part of his career spent avoiding a debtor’s prison.
