The General Trading Company was established in 1920 by the Part family. They traded from Grantham Place for over 40 years, moving to Sloane Street in 1965. The address stamped to the base of this bin, (now defaced) is Grantham Place. The business enjoyed the patronage of the Royal Family and pioneered the concept of the wedding list. They were one one of London’s first boutique home stores carrying a range of furniture and furnishings, glass, china, gifts and accessories that was always seen as being adventurous and produced with both passion and panache. In 1965 the shop moved to Sloane Street.

They were also Antiques Dealers, exhibitors at Grosvenor House and members of the BADA from 1933.
