Reverse Painted Glass Picture: “Old Gripus”

The Scramble or Old Gripus Plunder’d by his Young Wife.

An eighteenth century reverse painted mezzotint published in 1773, laid down onto the glass, ‚ÄúPrinted for John Bowles at No.13 in Cornhill‚Äù. Within what is most likely the original carved and ebonized ‚’Hogarth’ type frame.
