Sydney Maiden was a landscape and figurative painter in oil and watercolour. Born in India in 1893, he served as an officer in the East Kent Regiment in both wars. During his early years in England he lived in London, moving later to the village of Chipstead, near Sevenoaks, in Kent. During the 1930’s he exhibited at the Goupil Gallery, the New English Art Club and the Royal Academy.
