A good pair of aquatints, 'Engraved, Printed and Published by J(ohn) Bruce, Brighton',
1824, within period bird's eye maple frames.
12 1/8 in x 9 1/8 in
The details in these two views are utterly charming and ably demonstrate Brighton to be the height of Regency fashion at this time. The blocks of text within the title band of the Chain Pier tell us much about 'This brilliant specimen of modern architecture'; the pier eventually closing in 1889 on safety grounds.
